Class Contents & Overview

Lesson 1: Understanding and owning the parts of your instrument
Without a deep understanding of the components that create and affect your singing voice, it’s like shooting in the dark. This lesson goes through all the important components that create the voice you have, how to strengthen and coordinate these parts, and grow your voice.
-
Lesson 2: Preparing the Body, Mind & Environment to Sing
Singing isn’t something everyone can just jump into and sound great. If we expect magic to happen without any preparation, we will get discouraged quickly. We hold alot of tension and thoughts throughout the day. We have to honor the process of singing as something that takes relaxation, trust, engagement and confidence. I discuss tips and demonstrate how to get your body, mind and environment ready to sing.
-
Lesson 3: Breath Set Up
It’s not just about taking a good breath. As singers, we have to understand our body’s mechanisms in order to unlock tension, activate new areas and control the airflow. I wish I was taught this early on as a student. The nuances and physiology of breathing are often overlooked and taken for granted.
-
Lesson 4: Trills Warm Up
A classic way to safely coordinate and strengthen your vocal cords, brighten the voice and expand range.
-
Lesson 5 - Vowel Shaping, Warm Up & Navigating Chest and Head Voice
Vowel shaping changes resonance and ease during singing. This can be a little more advanced at times. If you can harness this at a basic level, it will help you smooth out areas of your range and reduce sticky parts of your voice by altering vowels using your mind, mouth and lips.

Course Info
This is a low pressure learning video that is meant to introduce you (or refresh you) to the foundation of singing using my holistic methods. I do a lot of explaining around concepts and techniques, as well as demonstrate them.
In each lesson, there are exercises for you to join in with so you may begin to embody these concepts.
Go at your own pace! Pause, rewind and rewatch/practice as many times as you need. That’s how you learn.
I am available for online or in-person sessions to coach you through your vocal development and execution of these techniques - helping pin point and solve issues, and guide you through singing the songs you love. Email me at juliana@discoveryourvoicesinging.com.
